Betty Rountree Babb, 74, of the 800 block of W. Constance Road, passed away on Sept. 12.

Born in Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late Otha S. and Mary Carter Rountree. She had formerly been employed with Birdsong Peanut Company.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur S. “Tootie” Babb; one brother, Otha S. Rountree of Suffolk; two aunts, Gladys Phelps of Portsmouth and Minnie Reddick of Atlanta; her dedicated sister-in-law Jean Simpkins, and sister-in-law Helen Green of Suffolk.

A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 15 at 2 pm. in Holland Cemetery by Rev. John F. Shappell.

Friends may join the Harrell and Hill Funeral Home this evening for visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 360 S. Port Circle, Suite 104, Virginia Beach, Va. 23452-1144.
