Hunter bags big black bear

Eric Clary shot this 520-pound black bear on Nov. 11 near Desert Road in Suffolk. It’s the largest bear Clary’s killed in his three years of bear hunting.
Eric Clary killed a 520-pound black bear on Veterans’ Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11. The hunt took place at Charles Nordan’s farm on Desert Road in Suffolk. Clary is president of the R&D Hunt Club.
Clary started bear hunting three years ago and has killed his limit each year. In all, Clary’s hunted for 39 years, but he says his time bear hunting has been the most exciting. This was his largest kill. According to the American Bear Association, black bears weigh from 90-600 pounds.
The bear was officially weighed in at George Kittrel’s in Corapeake, N.C. Clary’s family and friends enjoy the feasts which follow a successful bear hunt.
