Accident backs up Holland Road

Published Saturday, January 31, 2009

A single-vehicle accident held up traffic on Holland Road Saturday evening as police worked to clear the wreck.

The accident, which occurred on U.S. Route 58 directly in front of Hillcrest Baptist Church, involved only minor injuries, said Suffolk spokeswoman Debbie George. The Nightingale air rescue helicopter was called in, but was later canceled when rescue workers determined it was not needed.

Traffic was stopped in both directions around 6:15 p.m. while a wrecker picked up the vehicle. It was expected to be cleared by 7 p.m.
