Cool heads needed on global warming

Published Saturday, June 27, 2009

Fresh on the heels of another legislative victory that could prove burdensomely expensive for American taxpayers and businesses, President Barack Obama used his weekly radio address on Saturday to call for the U.S. Senate to move quickly to ratify the House of Representatives’ climate change legislation.

“We cannot be afraid of the future,” Obama said. “And we must not be prisoners of the past. Don’t believe the misinformation out there that suggests there is somehow a contradiction between investing in clean energy and economic growth.”

Ironically, though, Obama and the Earth First movement have forced this legislation on America through fearmongering about the future — or at least the future as predicted by former Vice President Al Gore and the woefully inadequate simulation programs that portend apocalyptic climate change in the face of contrary data and an unclear estimation of the actual cause of global warming.

Opponents of the legislation have their own fears, to be sure, but they’re significantly more tangible than those of the environmental left wing, which would have us believe that Americans’ use of air conditioners and motor vehicles dooms the planet to an Atlantean fate in tens — or maybe hundreds — of years.

Opponents charge that the legislation will result in higher energy costs, which will hurt families and small businesses and ultimately cost millions of U.S. jobs, as manufacturing companies move their processes overseas, where they will not have to worry about draconian energy taxes or the shell-game of carbon cap-and-trade, which favors large, wealthy companies over small, undercapitalized ones.

And even if Americans can adjust to Obama’s goals of cutting the nation’s carbon emissions 17 percent by 2020 and 83 percent by 2050, there’s no evidence there will be much effect on global warming, since the American standards will have no effect on the emissions coming from developing countries like China.

In fact, according to the U.S. government’s Energy Information Administration, the total increase in China’s carbon emissions since 2000 is 50 percent higher than that of the rest of the world combined. With Chinese citizens trading in their bicycles for cars at an every increasing rate — and with that nation steadfastly refusing to join any international efforts to reduce carbon emissions — the effects of its pollution are likely to negate any efforts made at a reduction on the part of America.

The Senate, long considered as our nation’s more deliberative legislative body, now has the opportunity to perform as James Madison envisioned it, “proceeding with more coolness, with more system, and with more wisdom, than the (House of Representatives).”

With Americans on the hook for trillions of dollars worth of new programs and bailouts since Obama took office in January — and more to come if the president gets his way on health care reform — current and future taxpayers can only hope their senators fulfill that historic role.

HURRY HURRY HURRY That is what we keep hearing over and over from this president. It as crisis, its a castrophe, act now, yes we can.The above is just one man's idea on how to save the planet…
The premise of this bill is that carbon emissions cause global warming and all the dire things Al Gore has prophesied in his book. According to a study at MIT, what this bill would accomplish is, basically, nothing as far as impacting global temperature changes. It is, in reality, a new tax that we will all pay, from the pockets of the very poor on up the socioeconomic ladder. From our pockets directly to the federal coffers.
This whole theory about carbon emissions is based on bad science, and has proven to be false by many scientists. According to a report from the United Nations, average global temperatures have decreased in the last 10 years, and carbon emissions have increased tenfold in the last 10 years. Now that is an inconvenient truth.
So who stood to benefit with the passage of this bill? Well, for starters there's Al Gore and his carbon-trading company, environmental consultants, all the new bureaucrats that would be needed.Think about this folks. It is reported that when the prophet Al Gore left the WH his net worth was estimated 3 million and now its over 100 million.
Liberals love government-Government control is the answer to most of our problems. Government must control business and private decisions because life isn't fair and government is needed to make it fair.
But as long as the Birkenstock-wearing, couscous-eating, rhythm-challenged dancing, unshaven, Prius-driving, tree-hugging, scraggly-haired left feels good about themselves, that's all that matters. It must be Al Gore, who knows and is banking on these environmentalist suckers better than anyone.
The poor in Suffolk and elsewhere need to ask Al and Obama who is going to pay for the electricity that runs their space heater this winter and the winters to come. Welcome to Russia.

4 questions must be answered before I am convinced that we are in a global warming CRISIS
1. Is global warming happening?
The globe does appear to be gradually warming
2. Is it a bad thing?
We can't answer that
3. Is man causing it?
We can't answer that
4. Can we stop it?
We can't answer that

Right now global warming is a political issue, not a scientific issue. I am convinced it is being used by the liberals merely to level down the productivity of the United States. It is one big plan for the redistribution of wealth around the world. Environmentalists are watermelons; green on the outside and red (communist) on the inside.
Also, please remember:
70 years ago the global crisis was that we were running out of oil.
60 years ago the global crisis was that we were all going to die in a nuclear holocaust.(Maybe that will become true,Obama refuses to confront the N Koreans and wants Iran to continue with their nuclear program while we cant have nuclear power only wind and solar and cuts our missel defense)
50 years ago the global crisis was that we were destroying the ecosystem with pesticides.
40 years ago the global crisis was that we were destroying the world with pollution.
30 years ago the global crisis was that we were entering a global ICE AGE!!(The Concode plane would be a major factor as swell)
20 years ago the global crisis was that we were destroying the oceans, rain forests, and ozone layer.
10 years ago the global crisis was that we were destroying the world with toxic waste.
Now we are in a global crisis because of global warming and the world will end as we know it..HURRY HURRY same verse coming out of DC, we are going to drown the seas are going to rise 22 feet. YEP, I am not buying into anything Al Gore promotes, hell his home state didnt support him in his run for the WH. That should tell us all something....
