Suffolk Police are looking for a burglar who’s doubling as an amateur photographer in his spare time.

During the first week of June, investigators were called to the scene of a residential burglary in the 200 block of Holbrook Arch. Detectives learned that during the burglary, the suspect attempted to use the homeowner’s cell phone to place a call, but was unsuccessful. He did, however, manage to take a photograph of himself with the phone’s camera feature, flashing a smile and two fingers. He then left the phone behind.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance identifying the cameraman. He is black, wearing a white shirt, and appears to be wearing a long, black beaded necklace. Anyone who may be able to assist police is asked to contact Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. When calling Crime Line, callers do not have to give their names or appear in court. If the caller’s information leads to an arrest, the caller could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.

It would be helpful if the owner of the phone would email you the actual photo and you posted it here on the web.

What an idiot...if he came to my house...it won't be a cell phone welcoming him!

LOL this happened in the neighborhood across from where I live. One thing I can assure you of is that if this guy lives in this same neighborhood which very well may be the case someone is going to turn his butt in. The picture shows his face very clear, someone is going to want that $1,000. What a goof ball though....why would you take a picture of yourself on the persons cell phone? LOL

hb55170, do you really think the owner still has the cell phone as opposed to it being in the care of the police as evidence? omg, it will be interesting to see IF this guy is turned in... money vs. the "no snitch" rule.....
