Rash of burglaries may be connected

Published Friday, September 25, 2009

A rash of burglaries in the northern parts of the city has police working to catch the thief.

“We’ve had some burglaries over the last week and a half,” Suffolk Police chief Thomas Bennett said Friday. “We have some promising leads.”

At least half a dozen burglaries that seem to be connected have been reported in the Nansemond Parkway, Shoulders Hill Road and Sleepy Hole Road areas. Each of the burglaries displays the same characteristics, Bennett said.

“They’re not taking real big-ticket items, Bennett said. “It’s things they can carry out in their hands — money, coins, stuff like that.”

Anyone who has information is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to Crime Line never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

Holy Cow....the city manager let the police chief speak about crime instead of mouthpiece Debbie George. Wow...I smell change in the air.
