2nd fatal crash of the weekend

In the weekend’s second fatal wreck, a 53-year-old man died Sunday evening when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed near the Blackwater Bridge on S. Quay Road.
The man was traveling westbound near the city line when he crashed. Suffolk emergency vehicles responded, and the road was closed for an accident investigation, with traffic rerouted onto Pretlow Street.
The man died at the scene, according to Suffolk spokesperson Debbie George. Police had not released his identity by Monday morning.
A Franklin man was killed early Saturday morning, when the vehicle he was driving left the road, hit an embankment and flipped several times, ejecting him, police said Saturday.
John K. Vann of Franklin died in that accident, which took place in the area of Wildwood Drive and Gates Road.
