What is this?
Keep Obici House discussions open
Published Friday, January 15, 2010
To the editor:
What in the world is going on with the City Council and their thinking concerning the Obici House?
I have not seen any explanation as to why several prospective buyers who are willing to restore the house have been ignored, with no explanation whatsoever.
I was brought up to believe that city business was to be conducted at council meetings, not behind closed doors, with no explanation given on the decision.
Please give us the whole story as to why City Council wants to tear down the home.
Mr. Obici was without a doubt the man who put Suffolk on the map. His home should be honored and respected. Much of what he contributed to Suffolk has been demolished or renamed.
I personally would like this prospective home sale to be thoroughly discussed at several council meetings.
The people of Suffolk deserve and explanation.

Sometimes good food loses its taste because there is too much salt in it. The same can be said about comments posted by the SNH and perhaps, the country's #1 commenter (See above comment).
Ms. Womack I agree with your assessment.

You mean county...right? ah..it is all clear now. He said his father was a partner with Obici back in the day...Must have been when salt was introduced to the peanut...

Truth, where did I say my father? What kind of by product are you.And what COUNTY do you live in? Two for Two
destin keep trying, its a slight improvement. Would the two of you be able to tell me who moved to Suffolk with Mr. Obici other than my GRANDFATHER from Wilkesbera Pa. It was back in the day. He Mr. Obic and my GRANDFATHER were all from the same village as MR Obici. Maybe you could contact Kermit Hobbs and ask him to let you see the photograph of Mr. Obici my GRANDFATHER and my dad. its a photo of them sitting in the rumble seat having a wine and my dad driving them around in FDR's touring car that my GRANDFATHER purchased. I am not sure if that picture was used in Mr. Hobbs book that he wrote about the history of Suffolk. it has lots of pictures for you and destin to look at. Dont worry about reading it if you can. Try the library if you wish.Maybe try and speak to Mr. Downtown Andy Damani he knew our family well he knows the history between our family and the Obici family. Your attempt of knowing Suffolk history is as weak as your minds.

You GUYS are really hung up on the taste of salt. There is NO need to explain. I dont really care what consenting adults do behind closed doors. Its a problem when it comes out into the public view. Of coure no pun is intended.

My father has actually read the book by Mr. Hobbs and OD is correct. His ancestors and Mr. Obici were close as were my ancestors (great grandmother and grandmother) to Miss Louise. Destinyismyme and Truth need to go to Mexico where salt and everything else stays in Mexico, Listen to Tody Keith Everything comes out in Suffolk Perhaps you and Truth could start a nudist colony in the Old Obici house. This would certainly increase the number of players but I bet the scores (of golf) would drastically go down,

Vass
Your comment is so vile and filled with so much salt that it is totally tasteless. See, the Truth and the Truthmaker do not feel it is worthy of a comment.

I think he meant mine vass. Just like earlier they said my dad. I challenged them over that and when they are wrong and challenged you hear the chirps of crickets.
As for turning the Obici home into a nudist colony, I suggested they open up an establishment that has a brass pole or two. That way we can keep the money here that is spent by our politicans who go to Norfolk near ODU and the beach so they wont be seen. <sarc> And the golf course will be packed with golfers with fat wallets in the rear pocket of those funny looking pants they wear.

I must comment on OD's post. Think of the possibilities. Employment opportunities for dancers, bartenders, and someone has to polish the brass pole. ID checker at the door to collect cover charge. (DO they even have these anymore?). Mr. and Mrs. Obici will probably spin in their graves but no more than they are spinning now from the disrespect they are being given by City Council and The Woman! My favorite part of your post is the golfers in their golfing garbs. Would "THE WOMAN' not look lovely in her sun visor which says "SUPRISING SUFFOLK" looking like Jane Hathaway and The Keeper of the Crypt in his plaid knickers, lifesaver knee socks (steady Bena you are a married woman). This would be priceless.
