Marion Rudolph Gordon, 86, of 1612 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009. He was a native of Marlboro, S.C., and the son of the late Ludie Gordon and Rebecca Ellison.
He was employed at Cedar Country Club in Suffolk for 44 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mahan Street and served in the U.S. Navy.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Carlise Elizabeth Gordon; three daughters, Diane Hanks (Lawrence), of Bloomington, Ind., Shirley Powell (Leon), of Boston, Mass. and Patricia Gordon (Ray), of Harrisburg, Pa.; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; special nephews, George Gordon (Lenora), of High Point, N.C. and William Gordon (Michelle), of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; special nieces, Lillian Copeland (Alfred), of Suffolk and Barbara McCray (Sammie), of Boston, Mass.; special great-niece, Delphenia Rollins, of Boston; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Aug. 21, 2009 at First Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Steven G. Blunt. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
