Reginald Boykin Sr.

SUFFOLK — Reginald Stanley Boykin Sr., 65, of 702 1/2 Banks St. Ext., died Oct. 26, 2009, at Sentara Obici Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Boykin was a native of Nansemond County, Suffolk. He was the son of the late Lloyd K. Boykin and Paige S. Boykin-Silver.
He retired from Perdue Chicken after many years of service. He attended Antioch United Church of Christ. Since his return to Virginia, he loved being with family and friends, yard work and painting. He just loved working with his hands.
He was predeceased by his son, Regan D. Boykin, and brothers, Alfonso and Allen Boykin.
Besides his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Regina Edwards (Robert), Charlotte McDonald (Clifford) and Daphne B. Boykin; four sons, Reginald S. Boykin Jr., Brian Randall Boykin and Amos B. Boykin (Huressa); one sister, Deborah Anderson; three brothers, Harvey Boykin (Joy), Dwight Boykin (Harriette), and Kenneth Boykin; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a very special relationship with nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Antioch United Church of Christ with the Rev. Jarvis Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Boykin Cemetery on Holland Road.
Wyatt & Sons Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Paying of last respects will be Saturday, Oct. 31 from 2 to 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 1 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Wyatt & Sons Funeral Home Inc.
