Minnie Reese Miller Hughes

Minnie Reese Miller Hughes, 85, of Rt. 1 Box 135 in Brundidge died at her home on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999.

A funeral service will be held at a later date in Haines City, Fla.

Survivors include, two daughters, Lorene Hughes of Brundidge; Maire Hughes Lanier of Kissimmee, Fla.; son, Rev. Jimmie Ray Hughes of Davenport, Fla.; two sisters, Jewel Taylor of Dothan; Mavis Johnson of Davenport; 19 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Jim Hughes and daughter, Elizabeth Hughes Patterson.

Visitation will be at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge on Wednesday, Dec. 8, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

John Daniel Johnson

John Daniel Johnson "Dan", 66, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999 at Lakeview Comm. Hospital in Eufaula.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 9 at Parkview Baptist Church in Eufaula. Burial will follow at Memory Gardents in Eufaula.

Survivors include mother, Sara Eldora Brown Johnson; wife, Verlon Johnson; sons, Michael Johnson of Troy; Patrick Johnson of Savannah, Ga.; Jim Martin of Vicksburg, Miss.; daughters, Lynn Welch of Skipperville; Dana Lea of Athens, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Randy Sherrill; Berkley Squires, Sr.; Jim Scarborough Sr.; Jim Scarborough, Jr.; Bob Scarborough; John Byars; Tim Shaw; and William White.

Honorary Pallbearers will be past and present members of the "World Brotherhood of Scouting".

He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He was a member and past president and treasurer of the Eufaula Computer Users Group. He was a member of Gideons. He was a pharmacist for 16 years. He was a member of several American Pharmaceutical associations and boards. He served the Boy Scouts of America for 47 years. Scouting accomplishments were that he was an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster of Troop 31 in Troy from ’67 to ’74, Eagle Scout Council Board of Review, Alabama-Florida Council Training Team, Unit Commissioner, Executive Board Member for the Alabama-Florida Council, Council Commissioner, Order of the Arrow Cowikee Lodge member, Earned 4th beaver Woodbadge (the advanced training course for adult scouters), Award of Merit, National BSA camp inspector, and Silver Beaver award recipient-(the highest award received in Scouting while serving as an adult).

Robert L. Faircloth

Robert L. Faircloth, 72, of Columbus died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999 in Doctor’s Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 in Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel. Dr. Kevin Calhoun will officiate with Interment in Parkhill Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Myrline M. Faircloth of Columbus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn F. and Bob Shivers of Columbus; Joy F. and Lloyd Eklund of Grayson, Ga.; four grandchildren, Jason Shivers; Lauren Miller; Erin Eklund; Ellen Eklund; great-grandchild, Matthew Miller; brother and sister-in-law, W. Josh and Dot Faircloth of Ellenwood, Ga; several nieces and nephews.

Active and honorary pallbearers will be members of Philos Sunday School Class of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church.

Mr. Faircloth was born Jan. 31, 1927 in Gulfport, Miss. He was the son of James Fletcher and Mae Williford Faircloth. He was educated in the public schools in Troy. He had lived in Columbus for the past 37 years. He was an U.S. Marine Veteran of World War II. He was the owner of Faircloth and Associates. He was a member and Deacon of Hilton Terrace Baptist Church, Philos Sunday School Class and a 1951 graduate of Auburn University.
