If the city accomodate the bikers with a bike lane or give them another alternative, it would be ok to regulate downtown but if they are not making any provisions for the bikers then don't try to regulate. The problem was identified now they have to come up with a balanced workable solution versus just saying that old code been in effect but it just wasn't enforced. The Suffolk Police Officers actually used the sidewalks themselves ... with care and some private citizens do to. Now if there is reckless driving of a bike then you have to take certain measures to control that but there really isn't all that much bike traffic in downtown to cause all this hoopla.
