John David Vinson

John David Vinson, 70, of 1113 Alpine Lane, and a resident of Westside Terrace for the last three years, died Tuesday, August 3, 1999 at Flowers Hospital following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 1999, at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Orin Barrett and Elder Cary Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing.

He was born August 23, 1928 in Bullock County, Alabama, where he resided the early years of his life. He moved to Dothan in 1961 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army and was a retired carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Atlas D. and Mary Lena Culpepper Vinson; a son, John David Vinson, Jr. and a brother, Albert Dewey Vinson.

Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Marie Vinson of Raleigh, N.C.; Jimmy and Olene Vinson of Banks; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sara and Dale Miller of Dothan; Nell and Robert Elert of Dothan, Ann Lambert of Dothan, Herman Lambert of La Follette, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be nephews, Scott Lambert, Vernon Johnson, Robert Elert, Ronald Elert, Jeff Groover, Berry Coleman, Dennis Adams and Tommy Vinson.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6267, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.

Brad Ward

Brad Ward, 20, of Troy, Alabama, died Monday, August 2, 1999.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 1999, at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. Ken May officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy, Alabama, with Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.

Survivors include parents, Carolyn and Blair Grayson of Troy and Pascal and Pam Ward of Bainbridge, Ga.; sisters and brother, Mallory Grayson of Troy; Rachel Ward and Emily Ward, both of Bainbridge, Ga.; Ginger Grayson and Wesley Grayson, both of Greenville; grandparents, Zollie and Exa Pouncey of Troy; Dale Ward of Prattville; Joyce Grayson of Greenville; John and Martha Weed of Troy; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ben Dansby, Joseph Golden, Mathew Hale, Wade Golden, Christopher Smith and Andy Wilkinson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Southside Baptist Church of Troy.

Visitation was held between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 4, 1999, at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
