Julia Mae Arnold

Julia Mae Arnold, 90, of Troy, died Tuesday, August 3, 1999, at Edge Regional Medical Center in Troy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 1999, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. L.C. McMillian, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Carroll Street Memorial Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

She was born March 7, 1909 in Pike County and was the daughter of George and Minnie McClavey Jordan. She attended the local public schools of Troy. She was a beautician for many years. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she served as chairman of Missionary Circle #2, a member of "Herons of Jericho" and the Ladies Aid Missionary Society. She actively pursued her fishing hobby.

Survivors include one sister, Addie Ruth Roberson (Barney) of Troy; two brothers, James Jordan of Troy; Robert L. Jordan of Detroit, Michigan; two special grandchildren, Eva Collins and Lela Siler, both of Troy; 10 other grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews raised as her own; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Floralbearers will be great nieces.

Richard Lee Jackson

Richard Lee Jackson, 74, of Springhill died Tuesday, August 3, 1999, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, August 7, 1999, at Elam Missionary Baptist Church in Springhill, Alabama, with Rev. Herman Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

He was born October 26, 1924 in Pike County and was the son of Maggie Harris Jackson and Selma Jackson. He attended school in Shady Grove in Mossy Grove Community. He was employed by Goshen Elementary until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Elam Missionary Baptist Church in Springhill and a devoted Deacon to the Church. His hobbies were farming and fishing.

Survivors include his mother, Maggie Harris Jackson and his children, Freddie Terry (Connie) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; James Lee Jackson (Dorothy) of Goshen; Carrie Vaughn (Herman) of High Point, N.C.; Lucille Youngblood (Marvin) and Willie Albert Jackson (Windell), both of Troy; two brothers, Joe Tom Jackson (Annie) of Panama City Beach, Fla. and Adell Jackson of Troy; three sisters, Georgia Jackson (Arthur) and Betty Jones, both of Troy; Al and Mary Emma Freemon of Panama City Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers and floralbearers will be friends of the family.

Visitation will be held from 11-6 p.m., Friday, August 6, 1999, and the body will lie-in-state Saturday, August 7, 1999, from 2 until 3 p.m.

Willie L. Walker Sr.

Willie L. Walker Sr., 85, of Ontario Ave., Niagara Falls, New York, formerly of Adams Street, Troy, Alabama, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 1999, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. L.C. McMillian, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Carroll Street Memorial Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

He was born August 13, 1913 in Troy, Alabama, and was the son of Demp and Georgia Smiley Walker. He was employed as a truck driver for Thompson Moving Company for more than 40 years. He was a member of Prince Hall Masonic Lodge and was a lifetime member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Fishing and hunting were some of his hobbies.

He was preceded in death by his wives Mozell (Flowers) Walker and Simanolia (Harris) Walker, son, Frederick Johnson; brothers, Ember and Emerson Henderson and Amos P. Walker.

Survivors include three sons, Willie L. Walker Jr. and Jimmy D. Walker, both of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Charles Rhodes of Chicago, Ill.; six daughters, Joann Dixon of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Rebecca Rodgers of the Town of Niagara, N.Y.; Rutha Maldonado; Tommie Jones; Shirley Williams and Martha Edwards, all of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; one sister, Louise Marshall of Troy; two step-sons, Joel Long and Guss Harris, both of Atlanta, Ga.; three step-daughters, Helen Ingersoll of Columbus, Ga.; Ann Williams of Queens, N.Y.; Glenn Harris Scott of Troy; 31 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Brad Ward

Brad Ward, 20, of Troy, Alabama, died Monday, August 2, 1999.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 1999, at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. Ken May officiating. Burial followed at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy, Alabama, with Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.

Survivors include parents, Carolyn and Blair Grayson of Troy and Paschal and Pam Ward of Bainbridge, Ga.; sisters and brother, Mallory Grayson of Troy; Rachel Ward and Emily Ward, both of Bainbridge, Ga.; Ginger Grayson and Wesley Grayson, both of Greenville; grandparents, Zollie and Exa Pouncey of Troy; Dale Ward of Prattville; Joyce Grayson of Greenville; John and Martha Weed of Troy; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers were Ben Dansby, Joseph Golden, Mathew Hale, Wade Golden, Christopher Smith and Andy Wilkinson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Southside Baptist Church of Troy.
