Josh S. Copeland

Josh S. Copeland, 89, a lifelong resident of Troy died Wednesday, September 1, 1999, at his residence, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 3, 1999, at First United Methodist Church of Troy with the Rev. Danny Doss and Dr. Joseph Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.

Mr. Copeland was a prominent farmer and merchant in Pike County before his retirement, continuing a family tradition that goes back to the early 1800’s. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former director of the Farmers and Merchants National Bank.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Copeland of Troy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Josh Paul and Pam Copeland of Conway, S.C.; Peter and Allison Copeland of Troy; one daughter, Leigh Copeland of Birmingham; four grandchildren, Seth, Austin, Shealy, and Courtney.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Wiregrass Hospice or First United Methodist Church of Troy.

Visitation will be held between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., Friday, September 3, 1999, at First United Methodist Church of Troy.
