Jeff Pennington

Jeff Pennington, 77, of Troy died Sunday, September 12, 1999, at Edge Regional Medical Center in Troy, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 1999, at New Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Judge Grooms, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Linwood, Alabama, with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

He was born September 19, 1921 in Pike County and was the son of the late Link and Liza Bell Pennington. He was employed by Troy State University for several years. He served approximately one and one-half years in the U.S. Navy during World War 11. He was a member of New Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Lillie (Larry) Fuller; Dora P. Smith, and Alberta Pennington, all of Troy; six sons, Jeff (Dianne) Pennington, Jr.; Clemmie (Pearl) Pennington and King Pennington, all of Troy; Robert (Bebay) Pennington of Conley, Ga.; Ison (Tracey) Pennington of Newburg, N.Y.; Wayne Pennington of Albany, Ga.; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Nebrasketa P. Daniels and Tyrec Rashad Pennington, both of Troy; two sisters, Dora Vincent of Birmingham and Sarah Smith of Baltimore, Md.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends.

Floralbearers will be granddaughters, nieces and ushers.

Fred Wilson

Fred Wilson, 69, of Troy died Saturday, September 11, 1999, at South Haven Manor Nursing Home in Montgomery, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 18, 1999, at St. Mark A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Nelson McCloud, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in New Mt. Zion Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

He was born June 26, 1930 in Pike County, and was the son of the late Roscoe and Leona Coleman Wilson. He attended the public schools of Troy. He served as a devoted trustee of St. Mark A.M.E. Church.

Survivors include a devoted cousin, Mattie C. Berry; six sisters, Annie Carlise; Laura Lee; Mary Siler; Melanesia (Joe) Scott, all of Troy; Linda Kirkland of Dothan; and Lois McGowin of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Edward (Carrie) Coleman of Dothan; and Willie Frank (Michelle) Wilson and Jay Coleman of Miami, Fla.; a devoted niece, Betty (Johnny) Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers and floralbearers will be friends of the family.

Visitation will be held at 12 noon, Friday, September 17, 1999, at the funeral home.
