Emmitt Anderson

Emmitt Anderson, 84, of Ramer died Sunday, October 10, 1999 at Capitol Hill Nursing Home in Montgomery, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 1999 at Old Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Walker, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

He was born December 15, 1914 in Pike County, Alabama and was the son of Mrs. Idella Anderson. He attended the public schools of Pike County. He was a member of Old Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of Prince Hall Masonic Lodge #180.

Survivors include a favorite niece, Mattie Lee McClain of Troy; six other nieces, Mary Leola Maddox of Union Springs; Mary Magalene Maddox of Troy; Jewel Toney of Columbus, Ohio; Della Mae Young of Columbus, Ohio; Lizzie Mae Henderson and Johnnie Mae Henderson of Florida; five nephews, Inez Williams of Miami, Florida; Nealy Alexander of Jacksonville, Florida; Isaack Brown of Miami, Florida; Okey Brown of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a host of step-daughters, step-grandson, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Floralbearers will be nieces and friends.

Irma Jean Williams Griffin

Irma Jean Williams Griffin, 55, of Troy died Saturday, October 9, 1999 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 1999, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Banks with Dr. L.C. McMillian officiating. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

She was born November 20, 1943 in Pike County and was the daughter of Willie Roy and Lucy Mae Tolbert Williams. She attended Pike County schools. She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Banks.

Survivors include a devoted husband, James Griffin; a loving daughter, Hope Griffin; two sons, Lee Jr. Armstrong and Lee Roy Armstrong of Pensacola, Florida; nine grandchildren, a devoted mother, Lucy Mae Williams; two sisters, Mattie Cooper of Troy; Virginia (Lamar) Boyd of Detroit, Michigan; two brothers, Travis Williams of Troy and Charles Williams of Detroit, Michigan; a special cousin, Mary Helen Shy of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; one brother-in-law, Joe Frank Griffin; three sisters-in-law, Pearlie Mae (Willie) Collins of Troy; Lovie Mae Copeland of Dothan; and Ida Mae (Kent) Hughes of New York; one great-aunt; three uncles; six aunts and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Floralbearers will be friends and classmates of daughter (Hope).

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., Friday, October 15, 1999.

Ollie B. Woods

Ollie B. Woods, 87, of the Glenwood Community died Friday, October 8, 1999, at Luverne Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 1999, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Glenwood with the Rev. J.M. Bryant, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

He was born June 16, 1912 in Pike County and was the son of William D. and Fannie White Woods. He attended the public schools of Pike County. He established and operated the Bluebird Taxi Service in Sanford, Fla., for a number of years.

Survivors include one daughter, Annie Mae Johnson of Sanford, Florida; two grandchildren, all of Sanford, Florida; two god-daughters, Susie Hawkins of Glenwood and Naomi Howard of Sanford, Florida; one devoted niece, Susie Caldwell, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers and floralbearers will be friends.
