fall festivals tonight

Students at Troy Elementary School and at Goshen Elementary School are getting in the Halloween spirit as they prepare for their annual fall festival tonight.

The event at TES, which is sponsored by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization, will be from 5-8 p.m. at the school today.

The fall festival serves as a fundraiser for the PTO.

Money raised through the festival funds field trips, prizes for participants in the accelerated reading program, art and music programs, science lab and school nurse. The money is also used to help teachers and school nurses buy supplies for the children, according to festival organizers.

TES students are not the only ones who benefit from the fall festival. Attendees also have the chance to win prizes.

Festival organizers are selling raffle tickets for $500, $100 and $50 cash prizes to be given away at the TES Fall Festival.

Also at the festival, drawings will be held for the prizes included in the school’s coupon book, including a trip for four to Six Flags. You can buy the book for $10 from any TES student.

Everyone is invited to the TES Fall Festival.

Goshen Elementary will also celebrate its Fall Festival tonight.The GES Fall Festival has been a tradition in Goshen for more than 20 years, and Jodi Thomas, coordinator of the event, said each year gets bigger and better.

Although the festival is not centered around the Halloween holiday, anyone is invited to dress up in costume to make the night more festival. And be sure you don’t eat dinner before you get there, Thomas said there will be homemade goods, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, hot dogs, nachos, pizza. peanuts and Pepsi for sale all during the night.

The festival is set for 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m., otoday, but Thomas said in the past it has lasted past 8 p.m., and they stay there until the last person is gone.

Besides food, there are a lot of fun activities for children and adults.

"There will be games for kids and adults, an auction, cake walk, pie throwing contest, a moon walk, a country store, haunted hay ride and haunted house," said Thomas.
