William Marvin Little, 87, a resident of 718 North Three Notch Street in Troy died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Troy on Sunday, Nov. 14 at 3:30 p.m. with Dr. Ellis Bush and Dr. Ed Walter officiating. There will be a 30 minute lie-in-state prior to the service. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Ann and Jerry Hollis of Jacksons Gap, Ala; a grandson, Thomas G. Hollis Jr. of Providence Town Mass.; two brothers Bennie Little of Tallassee, Ala.; and Forrest Little of Abbington, Va.

Serving as pallbearers are Wesley Little, Ray Little, Jimmy Little, Ben Little, David Little, Leon Hilyer, Raymond Ledford, Barney Burnette, Steve Colley, and Tom Hollis.

Honorary Pallbearers are Baraca Class of First Baptist Church in Troy, Lions Club, Synco 8:30 Coffee Club, Ray Armstrong, Larry Meeks, Robert Shell, Dr.’s J.A. and J.C. Brantley, Chase Riddle, and Jimmy Oliver.

He had a BS degree from Troy Teachers College where he was a member of the football team. He received his Masters degree from the University of Alabama and did other graduate work at Auburn University. He taught and coached in the Troy City School System and then worked with the State Department of Education.

He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Troy, a charter member of the Troy Lions Club. He also served in the Navy and was a WWII Veteran.

Memorial Contributions maybe made to the First Baptist Church of Troy Building Fund.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Barr Little.

Visitation Time will be at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy on Saturday, Nov. 13 between 5 and 7 p.m.

Dan Brewer Grubbs Jr.

Dan Brewer Grubbs Jr., 78, a resident of Chicago, Ill. died on Wednesday, Nov. 10 in Chicago.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 15, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Troy with Rev. Bobby Cox Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Carroll Street Cemetery with Military Honors.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Mae Grubbs of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Caroll Grubbs of Chicago, Ill.; sons, Norman Grubbs and Dan B. Grubbs of Ill.; one sister, Ann G. Grubbs of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, George F. (Yvonne) Grubbs; and Norman J. (Elizabeth) Grubbs both of Troy; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers will be officers and friends at St. Paul A.M.E. Church.

Honorary Pallbearers will be retired U.S. Army Personnel.

Floralbearers will be nieces and friends.

He was born on April 24, 1921 in Troy. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Dan Grubbs Sr. He was in U.S. Army Engineers Corp at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He was a registered Architect and member of A.I.A. He was a self employed architect. He had a lifetime affiliation with African Episcopal Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, golf, gardening, and traveling.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Street Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, 12:00 p.m. at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home.

Florene Qualls Boone

Florene Qualls Boone, 85, of Pratville died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999 at Edge Regional Medical Center in Troy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999 graveside at Prattville Memorial Gardens in Prattville with the Rev. Perry Green presiding. Dillard Funeral Home of Troy is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Boone was a member of First Baptist Church of Prattville and was a former vice president of the Bank of Prattville.

Survivors include five neices, Mary Loving, Suzy Senn, Jane Segars, and Dot Green, all of Troy, and Jean Arendoff of California; five nephews Scherr Qualls of Troy, Don Qualls of Huntsville, Billy Qualls of Birmingham, and Ronald Rogers and Larry Rogers, both of Prattville; and two sisters-in-law, Lillian Rogers and Helen Campbell, both of Prattville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Boone and brothers Claude Qualls and Bill Qualls.
