The Liberty Golf Classic will be held at the Nansemond River Golf Club on Sept. 26. Held to benefit Gideons Inter-national, a group that specializes in distributing Bibles in 175 countries worldwide, the tournament will begin at noon.

The cost is $75 per person, which includes a green fee, golf cart, driving range, snacks, drinks, and an open pit barbecue roast. Chipping and putting contests begin at 11 a.m. For more information, call 539-3511.

Baseball, softball signups begin July 30

Bennetts Creek Little League fall baseball and fast-pitch softball pre-registration is open via the league Web site at www.bennettscreek.org. Youth ages 7-16 as of Aug. 1 are eligible. Payment of fees will be accepted from 6-9 p.m. on July 30-31 in the board room behind Driver Elementary School.
