Seats are rapidly filling on the three August cruises scheduled for the Spirit Elite.

Less than 20 seats remain on each of the Norfolk-based yacht’s two dinner cruises, scheduled for Aug. 10 and 11, said Chris Elliott, director of development for Spirit Cruises.

A wine-tasting cruise scheduled for the same weekend is also beginning to fill, he said.

Cruises include:

n11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug 10 – A 2-1/2- hour luncheon tour of the Nansemond River. Cost is $37.50.

n4-6 p.m. Aug. 10 – A 2-hour tour that will give visitors the chance to sample three wines and dessert. Cost is $25.

n1:30 p.m. Aug. 11 – A one-way, 4-hour luncheon cruise to Waterside. People will be brought back to the Suffolk Visitor’s Center via a chartered motor coach. Cost is $40.

The one-way cruises, which were started last spring, have proved overwhelmingly successful, Elliott said.

&uot; They are a huge hit with people,&uot; he said. He is expecting the wine-tasting cruises will be equally popular.

Four cruises have been set for fall, including a luncheon cruise on Sept. 15; a luncheon cruise to Waterside, Oct. 20; luncheon cruise, Nov. 10; and luncheon cruise, Dec. 8. All cruises will depart from Constant’s Wharf at 1:30 p.m.

The Elite’s trips from Suffolk, which started last fall, appear to be catching on among residents.

&uot;We finally seem to be getting some regulars,&uot; Elliott said.
