The Lakeland golf team suffered its first defeat of the season Tuesday, a 309-313 loss to Hickory at the Suffolk Golf Course. Cavalier Darnell Wilson tied for the medallist honor with a score of 74.

Holland Athletic Assoc. signups end Aug. 24

The Holland Athletic Associ-ation will have player registration for football and cheering at the ballfields in Holland from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday. Players must be at least 10, and cannot turn 14 before Jan. 1. Proof of age will be required. For more information, call 657-6823 or 657-6240.

Lady Warriors softball team tryouts start Aug. 26

The Suffolk Lady Warriors 12U softball tournament team will be holding tryouts from 6 to 8 p.m. from Aug. 26-28 and Sept 4-5 at the Nansemond River High School softball field.
