Nansemond River Pilots welcome their governor

Kathy Clancy, The Pilot International District Governor of Virginia, attended the Nansemond River Pilot Club meeting on Aug. 13.

&uot;Without the members in Pilot Clubs across the nation and world, volunteerism and service would not be as evident,&uot; Clancy said.

Members’ goals are to serve in brain-related disorders and disabilities areas and raise awareness in protecting the brain through the BrainMinders Program.

This program has been introduced this past year in elementary schools in Suffolk by helping with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Autumn Care Nursing Home, Salvation Army, and Suffolk Shelter for the Homeless.

During the meeting, club members made storybook puppets for the Children’s Center in Suffolk.
