NRPC awards scholarship

At its annual monthly meeting recently, the Nansemond River Pilot Club presented Abbey Jean Williamson a Pilot International Scholarship in the amount of $1,050.
Williamson was presented the scholarship for her undergraduate studies preparing her for a career working directly with persons with brain-related disorders and disabilities.
She is 21 years old, goes to school at Sentara Norfolk General School of Nursing, and has a GPA of 4.0.
Her goal is to become a registered nurse working in the neo-natal intensive care unit (NICV). She resides with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Courtney in Suffolk.
Tara Moore, the Pilot International Foundation representative, presented Williamson with the scholarship. Moore is the liaison to the NRPC and passes international programs and information to members.
Applicants wishing to receive one of these scholarships must be enrolled to receive training in brain-related areas or trained to work in a neo-natal unit.
