&uot;Belk is very interested in trying to put money back into the community,&uot; said Karen Rogers, store manager in Suffolk.
Rogers is talking specifically about its Charity Shopping Day to be held Saturday, Oct. 12.
All participating non-profit, tax-exempt organizations will sell tickets for a $5 donation. Your group receives 100 percent of the ticket proceeds. The ticket allows your supporters the opportunity to register for prize giveaways.
The grand prize, a $1,000 shopping spree, will be given by Belk to one winning customer whose name is drawn for its group of stores. There will also be an in-store $250 shopping spree awarded.
A cosmetic basket and a George Foreman grill, each valued at $100, are also among the giveaway prizes.
In addition to these prizes, your supporter will be entitled to a 20 percent discount throughout the store with a 15 percent discount in the Home Department (normal exclusions apply) from 7 to 10 a.m., and a 15 percent discount throughout the store with a 10 percent discount in the Home Department (normal exclusions apply) from 10 a.m. to closing.
Your organization will want to start right away pre-selling the tickets. All money collected before Oct. 12 is completed retained by the group. On Oct. 12, a representative from your organization, if possible, will need to plan to be at the stores. Any money collected the day of the event will be split evenly among the groups present.
&uot;It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved,&uot; said Rogers.
