James &uot;Jimmy&uot; Everett Luter, 62, of Suffolk, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Obici Hospital.

Born on May 12, 1940 in Suffolk, he was a son of the late Andrew Jackson and Lilla Mae Green Luter.

Mr. Luter was retired from VDOT, and had served in the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Felton Luter; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Luter and Leslie Allen Stickels, Angela Dale and John Patrick Clement, all of Suffolk; brothers, Michael Andrew Luter, John Wayne Luter, his wife, Peggy, all of Suffolk; grandchildren, Brittany, Kortini and Brandi Stickels, Christopher and Leigh Dale.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. William Hawkins with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439, or to the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Local 2801, 400 Market St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
