Melissa Minot, Carney Hawks wed in Arlington Street Church

The wedding of Melissa Aileen Minot and John Carney Hawks took place Saturday, July 6, 2002, in the historic Arlington Street Church in Boston, Mass.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Michael Minot of Andover and Centerville, Mass.

The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Carney Hawks of Portsmouth, and the grandson of Mrs. Charlotte Carney Hawks of Carrollton, and Captain and Mrs. John Stell of Norfolk.

The bride is a graduate of Wake Forest University, is account supervisor for Foote, Cone and Belding in New York City, and owner of the on-line store, The Well-Appointed House.

The groom is a 1992 graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, and graduated from the McIntire School of the University of Virginia in 1996, and is a money manager with MacKay Shields LLC in New York.

The bride wore an ivory gown designed by Wearkstatt in Manhattan.

The bridesmaids, who wore rose gowns designed by Josephine Sasso, included: Holly Nogas, matron of honor; Lindsay Hawks, sister of the groom; and Gia Dardani, Cara Porcella, Sarah Gardner, Helen LaFaye, Katherine Maloney, and Pasha Ray, all friends of the bride.

The groomsmen were: Brian Nold, best man and son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Nold of Suffolk; Edward Ruffin House, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert House of Suffolk; Ned Hawks, brother of the groom; Todd Minot, brother of the bride; and Tyler Congleton, Thomas O’Shea, Benjamin Renshaw, and Wilton Wright, colleagues and fraternity brothers of the groom.

The reception was held at the Four Season Hotel overlooking the Boston Public Garden with music provided by the Winicker Orchestra. After a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple resides in New York City.
