Editor, the News-Herald:

I, for one, think it’s time we put aside opposing views concerning past wars and concentrate on the one at hand, however, Robert Pocklington’s question in today’s edition deserves a reply.

He asked if Sons of Union Veterans would be welcomed to parade alongside Sons of Confederate Veterans in Suffolk. The answer is a resounding YES!

We would welcome them with open arms and into our homes as honored overnight guests. They have been among our strongest supporters in the constant struggle against those who would suppress and ban the most momentous Chapter in American History.

Now, Robert, can we all unite against a common enemy? They are knocking at our front door and they don’t have a parade in mind.
