Church honoring its pastor

The Pastor’s Aide Board of Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church will observe its second anniversary with an appreciation service of the pastor and his wife, Rev. Charles L. Harvin Sr. and Mrs. Lillie L. Harvin. To celebrate, the congregation will sponsor a banquet at 7 p.m. Friday Nov. 22, at The Great Meeting and Eating Place on Airline Boulevard in Portsmouth.

The featured speaker for the occasion will be Mayor William E. Ward of Chesapeake, who is the longest serving mayor in Chesapeake’s history.

Ward is also a retired professor and the former chairman of the history department at Norfolk State University. He is an executive director of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission and the Southeastern Public Service Authority.

Music will be provided by the church youths, and a special praise and dance group will also perform.
