William Elner of Proctor Road, Suffolk, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002,at his residence.

Major Ruffin Sr. of Suffolk died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, in Obici Hospital.

Robert W. Stewart

Robert Wayne Stewart, 55, of Suffolk, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at Hampton Veterans Hospital.

Born on July 8, 1947, in Norfolk, he was a son of the late Rudolph Dudley and Ada Spruill Stewart.

He was a Vietnam Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his son, Jason Stewart of Leesville, La.; and brother and sister-in-law, Marvin R. and Lucy Stewart of Suffolk.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date.

Fredrick Stokes

Fredrick &uot;Vann&uot; Stokes, 59, of 302 C. Forest Oak Lane, Suffolk, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in Obici Hospital. A native of Suffolk, he was a son of Mrs. Lillian C. Stokes, and the late Fred Stokes.

He had retired from Planters Peanut Co.

He is also survived by three sons, Kelby D’Eion Moore, Lavonius Beasley and Llewellyn Beasley, all of Suffolk; sister, Sandji Ruffin of Suffolk; three brothers, Martin Stokes of Portsmouth, Benjamin Stokes of Richmond, and Theoperly Stokes, and wife, Kathy, of Suffolk; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 23 in Oak Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Sylvia Murphy. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 302 C-Forest Oak Lane.

The family will assemble at noon Saturday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Lillian C. Stokes, 405 S. Sixth St., for the procession to the funeral.
