The John Yeates Middle School girls and boys soccer teams finished first in the Suffolk Middle School soccer league for the second year in a row, as both teams completed undefeated seasons Tuesday at John Yeates Middle School, scoring respective victories over John F. Kennedy Middle Schools. The girls finished on top, 8-1, while the boys came out ahead, 7-0. The girls ended the season with a record of 5-0-1, and the boys had a clean sweep with 6-0.
Dana Manno, a member of last year’s team that also finished unbeaten, scored four goals for the Lady Chargers (all in the second half), and Katelyn Yandle, another member of the 2001 team, added three.
Brittany Maddox had the other goal for the Lady Chargers, and Crystal Harvey scored for the Lady Wolverines.
&uot;We knew that we could win, because we always worked really hard together and for each other,&uot; said seventh-grader Sheena O’Keefe, a part of a Lady Charger defense that allowed only seven goals in the season.
The boys’ scoring was much more diverse, as Alton Donovan, Thomas deTriquet, Dan-e Scott, Alex Dorsey, and Kyle Cremeans all knocked in shots for the Chargers.
