Staff report
The former owner of a longtime Suffolk boutique has joined the ranks of the Suffolk News-Herald.
Gene Denison, 72, who owned and operated Denison’s for more than four decades, started Monday as the newspaper’s new classified display advertising sales representative.
&uot;We’re proud to have Gene on our team,&uot; said publisher Andy Prutsok. &uot;He knows nearly everyone in town and his selling skills and professionalism will be a tremendous asset to the newspaper and our customers.&uot;
&uot;I need structure in life,&uot; said Denison, who retired and sold his shop in October. &uot;After 45 years with my own business, I felt like a ship without a rudder having nothing to do regularly.
&uot;I’ve always been fascinated by newspapers,&uot; he said. &uot;When I was in business, I always enjoyed doing my own advertising and I like writing. I just felt like this would be a good venue.
&uot;I think I will be able to ad something to this newspaper and get some satisfaction out of doing it.
