Ordered toys unloaded
Published 12:00 am Wednesday, December 4, 2002
Members of the Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Association of Insurance Financial Advisors were quite busy yesterday. They unloaded toys that were ordered earlier this year from Mercy USA from Lexington, N.C., Namco from Manchester, Conn., and Oscars from Chicago, Ill. Those taking part in the unloading were Jackie Taylor, Bill Ashley (Toys for Tots coordinator), Jim Chelew, and Bob Mitchell. These toys will be paid for by donations to the Suffolk Cheer Fund sponsored by the Suffolk News-Herald.
The distribution begins Thursday, Dec. 12 from the building donated by Bill Chorey at 800 W. Washington St.
The goal for this year is $37,500. Today the fund took in $1,235, which is a large step toward its goal.
We are very appreciative to receive any amount. You or members of your organization may also choose to have your picture published in the Suffolk News-Herald Cheer Fund column when you make your tax-exempt donation.
You may also choose to have a brief news article of your interest printed with it.
Just make your contribution to the Suffolk Cheer Fund and bring it to the office at 130 S. Saratoga St. from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. or you may mail it to the same address. Please make sure that you send a note as to how you want it printed.
