Activities are ongoing with the Toys for Tots Program and Maxann Morrison, owner of the Suffolk Day School, has been taking on a major role for a long time.

&uot;In this day and time when children are labeled as selfish and uncaring, the Share-a-Toy-Parties prove this so untrue because they give of their toys so willingly and caring with the true Christmas spirit,&uot; she said.

Morrison has headed the Share-a-Toy-Party activity for the past 26 years. Children are taught the joys of giving to those less fortunate, and on the day of the party Santa arrives and gives each child a candy cane. In return, each child donates a toy to the &uot;Toys for Tots&uot; Program.

The following day schools are involved: Apple Tree Learning Center, Metropolitan Church, First Baptist on N. Main St., East End Church, Growing up at Obici, Main Street, and Suffolk Day School.

The parties are held prior to the day of pickup and Hunter March, a member of the Portsmouth-Chesapeake-Suffolk Association of Insurance Financial Advisors, will do that this week and take them to the Distribution Center where they will be given away to underprivileged children beginning Thursday and Friday.

According to Bill Ashley, coordinator for the Toys for Tots program, Morrison has provided the quality of preschool education and day care that follows children throughout their adult lives.
