Two of five City Council members who attended a national convention in Salt Lake City last week took their spouses on the trip.

But both Vice Mayor Leroy Bennett and City Councilman Curtis Milteer indicated they are footing the bills for their wives accompanying them to the National League of Cities’ conference Dec. 3-7.

Bennett said he paid for his wife’s expenses before leaving on the trip.

Milteer said he would reimburse the city for his wife’s expenses.

Mayor E. Dana Dickens III and council members Charles F. Brown and Bobby Ralph also went on the trip.

City Manager Myles E. Standish, who retires at the end of this month, Assistant City Manager Cindy Rohlf, and City Clerk Erika Jenkins attended, too.
