Ruth R. Dickson Hines, 72, of 8412 W. Blackwater Road, Windsor, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, in Obici Hospital, Suffolk.

A native of Isle of Wight County, she was born on July 13, 1929 to the late Rossie Dickson and Willie Dickson Diggs.

She had been employed in the Isle of Wight School System for 21 years.

She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church and its Usher Board. She belonged to the Daughters of Elk Silver Leaf Temple No. 330.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Hines; a daughter, Cecelia H. (Andrew) Holloway of Norfolk; two sons, Raymond (Jannette) Hines of Riverdale, Ga., and Nathan A. (Claudia) Hines of Martinsville; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Morning Star Baptist Church, Windsor, by the Rev. J.J. Ferguson. Burial will be in Chapel Grove Church Cemetery, Windsor.

There will be no visitation. The family will receive friends at the home in Windsor. There will be a register book at Hines Funeral Home, 903 Starling Ave., Martinsville, which is in charge of arrangements.
