Clarence E. Slaughter

Clarence Edward &uot;Sid&uot; Slaughter of 321 Bullock St., Suffolk, a son of the late Fannie Mae Riddick and Jessie Lee Slaughter, departed this life Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, in Autumn Care Nursing Home, Suffolk. Mr. Slaughter was born on Oct. 28, 1935 in Ahoskie, N.C.

He was at one time employed at Planters P-Nut Co., self employed with Slaughter & Slaughter’s Cement Contractors, and later retired from Blair Brothers Construction Co.

Mr. Slaughter attended Bibleway Evangelist Center in Newport News.

He leaves behind to remember his life and spirit, his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Delores Simmons Slaughter; two sons, Clarence Slaughter (Myong) of Denver, Colo.; and Roderick Slaughter of Suffolk; one brother, Charles Slaughter (Lois) of Suffolk; mother-in-law, Mrs. Rosa Goodman, two sisters-in-law, Janie Gates (Eugene) and Alfleta Gail Parker, (Roy)

He was preceded in death by Rosa Slaughter, six brothers-in-law, George Frank (Patsy) Lepolda, Randolph, Thomas, Linwood and Alvester Simmons, all of Suffolk; two grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, in New Paul’s Temple Holiness Church by Bishop Mann and Pastor Catherine Skinner. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence.
