Johnnie F. Edwards Sr.

Johnnie Felton Edwards Sr., 75, of the 100 block of North Capitol St., Suffolk, passed away at Obici Hospital on Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, after a brief illness.
Mr. Edwards was the surviving twin son of the late Frank and Baldora Edwards.
He was well known for his work at the Planter’s Club for 30 years and was a local carpenter.
Mr. Edwards was a former member of the local Masons, and was retired from Planters for 11-1/2 years.
He was a member of the East Suffolk Federated Civic League and Piney Grove Baptist Church, Suffolk.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Harriett L. Lawrence Edwards; a daughter, Lillian E. Faulk of Suffolk; a son, Johnnie F. Edwards Jr. of Suffolk; six grandchildren, Keevin B. Edwards, and his wife, June, of Atlanta, Ga.; Coley Faulk III of Norfolk; Cordel L. Faulk of Dallas, Texas; Yvette Edwards of Petersburg; Johnnie F. Edwards III of Lynchburg; and Janice Edwards of Norfolk; two great grandchildren, Keevana and Bailey Edwards of Atlanta; numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by all 13 of his siblings, and a daughter, Barbara Dean Edwards.
The funeral will be held at noon Monday in Piney Grove Baptist Church, 4901 Deer Path Rd., Suffolk, with Pastor Larry Parker officiating. The burial will take place in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk.
Crocker Funeral Home, 900 E. Washington St., is handling arrangements.
