Approximately 15 area Jazzercise instructors (above), several of which hailed from Suffolk and Chesapeake, participated in an aerobic dance and strength training demonstrations last weeked at the Old Dominion University Constant Convocation Center’s sixth annual Health and Fitness Expo. The instructors, helped along by many of their students (and a few newcomers from the expo crowd), performed dance selections from several genres of music, including hip-hop, techno, classic rock, oldies and even a patriotic compilation. The expo featured a variety of health and fitness professionals demonstrating their products and offering a sample of their goods and services. Appearances by the area’s professional athletic teams, the Norfolk Nighthawks (football), Mariners (soccer) and Admirals (hockey) helped to draw a crowd.

Sentara Hospitals, Bon Secours Health Systems and many local physicians sponsored health screenings and distributed information on health related topics cancer prevention, heart disease and diabetes to cosmetic surgery and acupuncture.
