Mabel Burris Blanchard, 76, of 1340 River Road, Suffolk, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, in Obici Hospital.

A native of Stanley County, N.C., she was the widow of William E. Blanchard Sr., and a daughter of the late Gordon Thomas Burris and Nannie Lou Boone Burris.

She had retired as a secretary with Suffolk Auto Supply after 28 years of service.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy B. and Timothy E. Wall of Suffolk; her son and daughter-in-law, William E. Blanchard Jr. and Candace S. Blanchard of Suffolk; her granddaughter, Tracy Erin Blanchard; and her sister, Eunice B. Hawkins of Suffolk.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, in the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of the Harrell and Hill Funeral Home. The Rev. Nathan A. Wall will officiate.

Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, and other times at her residence.
