Edith Matthews Pittman, 80, died Feb. 2, 2003, at Nansemond Pointe.

Born Dec. 23, 1922, in Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Mae Benton and James Jackson Matthews. Mrs. Pittman was retired from Town and Country as sales lady. She attended First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sister, Claudia M. White of Suffolk and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the graveside in Holland Cemetery by the Rev. Tommy Reynolds. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co.
