Attorney Jerrauld C. Jones, director of Juvenile Justice, will be the keynote speaker at the 37th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet of the Suffolk-Nansemond Branch of the Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) at 5 p.m. Sunday in Temple Beth-El, 3927 Bridge Rd.

Gov. Mark Warner appointed Jones to this position July 1, 2002. Prior to this appointment, Jones, a Democrat, served for many years as a delegate to the Virginia General Assembly, and is the immediate past president of the Legislative Black Caucus where he served on numerous boards and committees.

Introducing Jones will be Herman Benn, a former administrative law judge and retired attorney who practiced law in Suffolk and Richmond.

Jones earned his B.A. degree from Princeton University and his J.D. degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law. He has received many awards, honors and special appointments including &uot;Strong Men and Women of Excellence in 2002 from the Dominion Companies.&uot; He is a member of numerous professional, political and civic organizations and serves on many boards.

Serving as mistress of ceremony will be Cheryl Wilkerson, director of Radio Station 103.3 WOWI and talk show host for &uot;On the Line&uot; 105.3 WSVY. Furnishing the music will be Rodney Williams, professor of Arts and Dance at Longwood University, and Doc Christian, producer/host of &uot;Joy-N-Morning&uot; on VIBE and producer of the Tom Joyner Morning Show on 105.3 WSVY.

Special recognition will be given to new Life Time Members of the NAACP.
