Suffolk cable subscribers will continue to be served by Charter Communications.

After more than two years of negotiations and threatened franchise revocations, the city and cable provider struck a deal that enables charter to continue serving Suffolk residents.

In a surprise move Wednesday, the Suffolk City Council voted 7-0 to approve a memorandum of understanding stating that Charter will pay the city $340,000 in fines for missed deadlines and penalties.
