Parent cheated out of seeing son play

Editor, the News-Herald:

I’m a parent of one of the Lakeland High School junior varsity players and have never missed a game of my son’s. Last Friday, I arrived at Nansemond River for the Lakeland-Nansemond River game at 5:40 p.m., waited in line until 6:15, and got all the way to the door only to be turned away – the game had sold out! The school system must come up with a plan to at least ensure that parents get into the game. I had to wait outside until 9:30 p.m. to get my son. I understand that the game was sold out. I did the right thing waiting in line only to watch several other people who just broke in line. Had it not been for all those people I surely would have got in. Somebody needs to get more organized at these sold out games – at least make sure one parent can get!
