Myrtis M. Edwards

Myrtis Midkiff Edwards, 84, died Feb. 16, 2003, in Elizabeth City.

Born January 5, 1919, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Mary Keiffert Hayes and the widow of Henry Baird Edwards Jr. She was predeceased by her first husband, Clarence Edward Midkiff.

In Suffolk, Mrs. Edwards was a member of West End Baptist Church and former member of the Junior Woman’s Club and the Tuesday Afternoon Book Club. In Richmond, she was a member of Chamberlain Baptist Church. She was retired from Community Electric Corp. as office manager.

Survivors include her son, Clint Midkiff of Elizabeth City, N.C.; step-daughters, Anne Baird Travers of Richmond; Leigh Hilldrup of Powhatan, Lindsey Chadduck of Winchester, Susan Moore of Richmond; step-son, Henry B. Edwards III, of Richmond; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home by the Rev. T. Floyd Irby, with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
