Emily Parker Lemmon, 74, died March 3, 2003, in Obici Hospital.

She was born in Richmond Jan. 28, 1929, the daughter of the late Alexander W. Parker and Mary McDaniel Parker of Richmond.

She is survived by her husband, Edward T. Lemmon Jr.; her four children, Virginia L. &uot;Jinks&uot; Babey and husband, Kirk; Edward T. &uot;Ted&uot; Lemmon III and wife, Dawn; Douglas L. Leed and husband, George; and Richard C. Lemmon; seven grandchildren, sisters, Douglas Parker Moncure of Richmond, Dorothy Parker Hale of Smith Mountain Lake; aunt, Alice Parker of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emily was a graduate of St. Catherine’s School in Richmond, attended Wheaton College in Massachusetts,

and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Old Dominion University in Norfolk. She and husband Ed raised four children, living in Richmond, El Paso, Tex., Newport News and then settling permanently in Suffolk in 1962.

A former president of the junior league in Newport News, Emily was also an active Girl Scout leader in Suffolk for many years, traveled extensively in Europe, was an avid student of Languages and a voracious reader. Her most outstanding and memorable quality was her incredible creatively. Emily always had either craft work, needlework, quilting or knitting projects in progress, nearly all of which she gave away immediately upon finishing. She was a loving and generous wife, mother, daughter and friend. She was a living testimony of God’s grace and a faithful witness of Jesus Christ.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Main St., in Suffolk by the Rev. H. Vance Mann III and assisted by the Rev. G. Linwood Cook. A reception for family and friends will follow in the Parish Hall.

Burial will be private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Memorial Fund or to Emily’s favorite charity, The friends of Barnabas Foundation, P.O. Box 23194,Chesterfield, Va. 23832.
