Living Proof, a southern gospel trio from Suffolk, will be featured at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 29 in Wilroy Baptist Church. Another group, The Greenes, will also be featured.

Living Proof was created in September 1997 when Julie Greene, a soprano, and Jamey Cowan, a tenor, performed as a duet at a revival. They sounded so good that they were asked to return. On the way back to that second engagement, the duo came up with &uot;Living Proof&uot; as the group name.

Taraleigh Casteen, lead singer, joined this past January.

&uot;We also do a wonderful rendition of the &uot;Star Spangled Banner&uot; and have been invited recently to do it at many places,&uot; said Casteen. &uot;We love doing this in order to rally the support of our troops.&uot;

Some of those places are Langley Motor Speedway, Hampton; Harbor Park, Norfolk; and the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.

About one month ago, they opened up a gospel concert for the Palmetto State National Quartet from South Carolina, one of the biggest programs put on in that state.

Greene is a member of Harvest Fellowship Baptist Mission in Carrolton where she sings on the Praise & Worship Team. She said she loves the Lord and usually expresses that fact through music. Cowan has been a member of Smithfield Baptist Church since June of 1991.

He plays the guitar and leads praise and worship for his Sunday School class. He works at Newport News Shipbuilding and lives in Smithfield with his wife Nancy and two children, Darin and Meagan. He feels called to the ministry and is a descendent of three pastors, his father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Casteen is a member of Bethlehem Christian Church where she works as Youth Choir director. She wrote her first song at 14 and began singing professionally and touring with a band at 17.

In addition she is coordinating, singing with and directing a local a cappella group that maintains five-part harmony, and performs southern gospel and classic oldies at various events.

She lives in Suffolk with her husband, Randy Burk, and their daughter, Laura, who is a student at Radford University.
