Parks and Rec. offering personal training

Suffolk Parks and Rec. is offering personal training. You will be provided with exercise test results for muscle strength, muscle endurance, and cardiovascular fitness. Nutritional analysis and body composition will also be evaluated. The course will be on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 7 through July 7. The cost is $75. The registration deadline is May 1. Eggstravaganza to be held April 12

Hop on down to Bennett’s Creek Park for Suffolk Parks and Recreation’s Easter Eggstrava-ganza on Saturday April 12. The event will kick off with a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The cost will be $2.75. Amusements, games and crafts will begin at 9 a.m. There will be a $1 fee to enter the inflatable amusement, but all other games and crafts are free. A magic show will start at 11 a.m. and the egg hunt will start at 11:30. After the egg hunt, stick around for pictures with the Easter Bunny. For more details, call 923-2360.

Local dancing class begins May 6

Suffolk Parks and Rec. is offering a social dancing class. You will learn the fundamentals of the cha-cha, the rumba, the East Coast swing and the two-step. Get some exercise while having fun. Classes will be held every Tuesday 7:30-8:30 p.m., May 6 through June 10. The cost is $40 for women and $30 for men. All non-residents must pay an additional $10. Parks and Rec. offering tennis clinic

Suffolk Parks and Recreation is offering tennis lessons for ages six and up. You will learn the fundamentals like proper grip and stance, the basic strokes, serving, scoring, and other rules of the game. Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at Booker T. Washington Recreation Center April 29 through May 29. Children 6-12 years old play from 4 to 5 p.m. and 13-and-up play from 5 to 6 p.m. The cost is $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents. Youth Fishing Day to be held April 26

Come out to Sleepy Hole Park from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 26 to learn to catch a fish at the Youth Fishing Day, sponsored by Suffolk Parks and Recreation, is a free event and open to children ages 3-14 years old. Bait will be provided. Children are encouraged to bring their own fishing pole (some rods and reels will be available). For more information, please call 255-4308.
