Rivenbark top golfer in Saint win over Ridgecroft

Andy Rivenbark shot a 75 to take the medallist honor as his Nansemond-Suffolk Academy golf team defeated host Ridgecroft 323-378 on Wednesday afternoon. The Saints (7-0) will next host Norfolk Academy and Collegiate at the Suffolk Golf Course on April 25.

Suffolk grabs first Beach Blast win

Lakeland brought home Suffolk softball’s first victory in the Beach Blast tournament in Virginia Beach on Wednesday, as the Lady Cavaliers rode the pitching of Candace Judkins to a 4-1 victory over Niagra Falls. Lakeland fell 3-0 to Ocean Lakes in a later game.

Nansemond River’s luck was worse, as the Lady Warriors fell in both of their contests, dropping River’s tournament record to 0-4. The teams will return to competition today (all times had not been announced).

Local high school alumni to hit the court for cancer

Lakeland and Nansemond River High School alumni will be playing in a benefit basketball game on Friday, April 25 at Lakeland High School.

Sponsored by the LHS Relay for Life teams, proceeds of the event will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Alumni women will play at 6:30 p.m.

Alumni men will play at 8 p.m.

Admission is $4.

Youth track meet to be held May 10 at NRHS

The Parks and Recreation department is sponsoring the 2003 Hershey’s track and field youth program. The meet will be held May 10 at Nansemond River High School, and is open to ages 9-14.
