Senator Frederick Quayle recently announced his intention to seek re-election in Hampton Roads’ thirteenth district.

We had the privilege of working with Sen. Quayle this past legislative session and found him to be an ethical man, a man of the people and a man who will undertake to see substantive legislation passed that will benefit all Virginians, not just those who are able to vote for him.

Last year a discriminatory, arbitrary and dangerous law (SB260) was passed which would have effectively ended home-based volunteer animal rescue in Virginia.

When ordinary citizens meeting with Sen. Quayle expressed their concern with that law, they were listened to with respect, and genuine interest and the senator courageously agreed to sponsor an amendment to that law.

Though pressured by special interest groups to withdraw his support and facing a difficult contest within the General Assembly, the senator gave 100 percent effort and SB950 passed both Houses and was signed into law by Gov. Warner.

Due to Sen. Quayle’s tireless efforts in bringing SB950 to fruition, thousands of

homeless dogs, cats, reptiles, ferrets, and other companion animals will continue to be cared for and re-homed by volunteer rescue organizations statewide.

We urge voters of the 13th District

to support Sen. Quayle for re-election, for he is a man of honor, a man of his word, a man willing to support a grassroots effort because it is the right thing to do.

A man with his work ethic, leadership ability and integrity should be returned to the state senate.
